  • What does my manager do?  Your manager is in charge of doing just that, managing. They handle damage control, scheduling, contracts and working closely with your development team. You may find managers and management companies that have a full team to handle finances, career plans and recording needs.

  • How do I know if I need a manager? To decide if you need a manager you should think about what stage you are at in your career. Many upcoming artists manage themselves because they are just starting out. The busier you get the more you will desire/need a manager. In some instances, the artist chooses to have an assistant to handle schedules and emails. If you have multiple things going on such as shows/tours, interviews or an organization you would consider having a manager for your entire brand.

  • What does my Agent do? Your agent is responsible for booking your shows and appearances. Some managers take the roll of the agent depending on their roster and the size of their company.

  • What does my PR team do? PR is an abbreviation for Public Relations OR Promo. Your PR team is in charge of anything that involves the look and image of your brand. This includes social networks, website, blog, album/tour promotion, magazine/blog features, press kit creation/release, etc. Many PR teams run just like Advertising agencies, even if it’s a department within your Management Company. When they operate like an Ad agency, they will book your photo shoots and handle the creation of your image.
